What is NAVIGA-USA?
NAVIGA-USA is a U.S. non-profit organization whose mission and functions are promote the widespread development of the marine model sport in the United States. Provide necessary organization, assistance and equipment; organize various marine model competitions in the United States.
NAVIGA-USA‘s tasks include but are not limited to: organizing and operating Marine Model clubs, cooperating with American educational institutions, promoting technology education in campuses, training Marine Model athletes, especially young athletes, organizing Marine Model competitions in the United States, and organizing American athletes to participate in international Marine Model competitions.
NAVIGA-USA follows NAVIGA's project settings and competition rules, we are the formal member of the NAVIGA international organization to represent the United States. American individual athletes can participate in various international marine model competitions organized by NAVIGA through the assistance of NAVIGA-USA.
What is NAVIGA?
NAVIGA is a world wide Organisation dealing with ship model sports. Members of NAVIGA are national federations, not individuals.
Objectives of NAVIGA
The objective of NAVIGA is the support and dissemination of shipmodelsport and to build up friendly connections with all people practising this sport excluding sexual, racial, confessional and political discrimination.
Structure of NAVIGA
NAVIGA is divided in sections. There are 6 sections (as of now):
>> Section A/B – tethered speed boats
>> Section C – not driving scale models
>> Section E – long duration racing models
>> Section FSR – motor driven racing boats
>> Section M – motor models
>> Section NS – scale models (actually driving)
>> Section S – sailing models (with the emphasis on racing)
Activities of NAVIGA
NAVIGA organises World Championships in all sections every 2 years. If there is interest, Continental Championships are also organized in the year between World Championships.
NAVIGA publihes rules for all the classes in the sections to be used in contests on the website.Those publications can be seen by everybody. Those rules are written in one of the official languages of NAVIGA .
All important decisions, changes in rules or results of championships, will be published on the Naviga website and send trough e mail to all member countries.
Every 2 years a general assembly meeting takes place. The presidium is elected every 4 years at the general assembly meeting. The section leaders are elected by the members of the section in a section meeting during World Championships of the relevant section.
